If you’re looking for a healthy new year recipe, this isn’t it! However, if you’re looking for a Bolognese sauce that could wow anyone – this is for you. This recipe is full-proof and very impressive with minimum ingredients and skills needed to wow!! It’s simple and exceptionally delicious. Serve this sauce with pasta or top some crunchy fries for a unique dish.
Sauce serves 4-6 people
Time 1 hour 30 min.
Ingredients for Fries with Bolognese Sauce:
1 TBS olive oil
1 onion chopped
1 1/2 cups of carrots chopped
1 1/2 cups of celery chopped
3 TBS of garlic minced
1/2 pound of beef
1/2 pound of pork
2 TBS tomato paste
2 cans of crushed tomatoes or 28 OZ total
1 cup red wine
3 TBS of Italian spices
1 beef bouillon cube
salt and pepper to taste
1-2 TBS honey or sweetener of choice
*Suggested 2 tsp salt and 1 TBS black pepper
Instructions:
- In a Dutch oven or deep pan Add 1tbs of olive oil, onion, carrots, celery chopped, garlic. Sauté vegetables for 5-10 min until tender.
- Add in and brown ground beef and pork.
- Once the meat is browned, add in tomato paste, crushed tomatoes and red wine, Italian spices, beef bouillon cube, salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring sauce to a boil for 5 min, then turn down the heat to a low simmer and cover with a lid.
- Check on the Bolognese sauce every 30 min and give it a stir. Let it simmer for at least 1 hour and then keep simmering until it’s a thick consistency (your preference)
- When the sauce is done, add in honey.
